Cross Country

TCTC Cross Country TeamTCTC offers Cross Country running in which runners compete to complete a course over open or rough terrain faster than other runners. Athletes run mainly on a course, which may include grass, dirt, mud, and woodlands. The races distance range from 2,000 to 5,000 meters. Boys and girls do not compete against each other, although they may sometimes run in the same races due to time constraints at meets.

Year in Review
The Triangle Champions Track Club held its first Cross Country Season in the Fall of 2007. Sixteen athletes competedin the program. Fifteen of the 16 advanced all the way the Regional Championships in Winston, GA. Threeof our athletesqualified and competed at the National Championships in Lawrence, KS. Our Bantam Girls team (9-10) won the 1st Place team title at the NC State Championships in Greensboro, NC. Our Sub-Bantam Boys (7-8) won the 1st Place team title at the NC State Championships and 1st Place at the Regional TCTC Cross Country TeamChampionships in Winston, GA.

Ages of Competitors
We will be accepting athletes from age 6 (or turning 6 in 2008) to 18. Athletes will be competing by age groups in 2 year categories. For example age; 6 & under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18.

Meets
Meets are usually run on Saturdays and normally last 3-4 hours. Some meets will be out of town and require travel.
