Triangle Champions Indoor Recap 2009

Does anyone remember the movie 300? It was a classic. A small group of warriors set out to battle an army of combatants. It was like a David verses Goliath fight but with more people involved. That is what this indoor season has felt like.

With only fifteen student-athletes registered to run for TCTC this indoor season, we received a great deal of exposure and success. They had to deal with the practice in the fringed cold and the older kids also spent time in the weight room for the first time in there lives and they now are beginning to see the benefits.

Although the actual meets didn’t start until January. Most of the high school students began training in September going to the weight room, the hill and doing homework. They opened the season at Liberty College in Lynchburg, VA and everyone who participated opened up with PR’s (Personal Record). We traveled to Landover, MD twice, raced collegians at UNC-Chapel Hill, competed in Idaho’s famed Simplot Games and still have the National Scholastic Championship Meet in New York to run in for those that qualified. Yes we have a few kids that have qualified for the HS National Championship.

Everyone who participated this indoor season PR’ed. As a coached you can’t ask for anymore than that. These kids have shown that they are dedicated and have a desire to be great in this sport.

I have to give a special thank to the parents who’ve allowed there kids to participate in this indoor season because it required dedication from you as well. Getting the kids to and from practice, paying the fees and as I mentioned before the meets weren’t all local. That took special efforts on your behalf, THANK YOU.

For those who indoor season has been completed, thank you for your dedication and I look forward to the great things that you all will accomplish this outdoor season. You all have a head start and now you can build on it. Remember while you are out for the next few weeks lets have active rest. If you do not know or remember what that is, give me a call and I will remind you.

See you all March 2nd.
